A talk with Ken Burns' best friend...
Tonight on Face to Face with Ellen Green, we revisit Dayton Duncan, the fascinating writer/producer who has worked closely with film maker Ken Burns for over 20 years. He was in town last November researching and shooting interviews for an upcoming documentary on the Dust Bowl, but found time to talk to Ellen about the series on our national parks which PBS premiered last fall. He talks very passionately about the value of the park system and what it means to the soul of our nation.

Candidates Forum tonight
Tonight we host a "LIVE" political debate between all the candidates running for David Swinford's Texas House 87th District seat...Abel Bosquez (D), James Hudspeth (L), and Republicans Four Price and Victor Leal. Ellen Robertson Green will moderate for journalists representing the Big Three networks, the Amarillo Globe News and Amarillo Independent newspapers, as well as radio station KGNC. We'll have an hour to question the candidates, hear their rebuttals, and hopefully get some clear ideas of where they stand on issues of affecting residents of Sherman, Moore, Potter and Carson counties. Should be interesting.
The episode of This Old House Hour - Roxy project that was pre-empted tonight will resume at it's regular time next Thursday.

Super Bowl Weekend
For those weary of football and eager for it's end on Sunday, there are a couple of shows you might like. First, it's an encore episode of Face to Face with author Nando Parrado, the airline crash survivor from the 70's whose truly harrowing tale of survival will keep you on the edge of your seat. Then there's part 3 of Jane Ausen's "Emma" on Masterpiece Classic, followed by a brilliant edition of Great Performances...featuring "Harlem in Montmarte" a look at the jazz age in Paris after WW I, and the flourishing of African-American artists encamped there.
Don't worry...more than likely, the Saints are going to win the big game.

Secrets of Shangri-la bumps the White House
Due to a scheduling snafu, this program about explorers crawling through caves in a remote corner of the Himalayas will replace the "In Performance at the White House" you might see on your program guide. That show will air next Thursday after KACV's Candidates Forum. Meanwhile, the scientists in Tibet discover art, texts and artifacts from the 13th century, hidden away in extensive human carved caves created 2700 years ago to house the dead. A fascinating look at ancient cultures.
